There is a story behind my Clockwork Princess copy. After a long day of work experience, I went into Central London with my dad to buy the book. We spent over an hour wanding up and down all these streets, trying to find it. It was cold and we had been walking all evening, but finally, we found a bookshop! I checked the whole YA section, but the woman working there said that no bookshops in London were going to get it until next week. Dejected and tired, we decided to go back to where we were staying, but suddenly we found another bookshop: Foyles! I ran in and found the young adult section, and there it was, Clockwork Princess, on the highest shelf. I tried to reach it, but the girl working there laughed and pointed out a lower down copy. She mentioned that she loved them too, and my dad and I told her the story of how we’d been searching for hours. Being a huge TMI/TID fan, she could see how much I loved it, so she smiled and said, “I think I might actually have a bookmark signed by the author somewhere,”, so she disappeared into the cupboard, where she arose with a bookmark signed by ACTUAL CASSANDRA CLARE! I was uncontainably excited and I was trying so hard not to turn into a sobbing fangirling mess, but I thanked her so much, and we had a little bit of a discussion about the books. It was totally worth the whole London trek just to get the signed bookmark and first edition. Plus that first woman in the first bookshop was clearly misinformed, and I’m so glad I went into Foyles. If you ever go to London, go to that bookshop; I can’t recommend it highly enough!
